I'm Isobel (also known online as "Ride" or "Ride Forever") and I've been in a long-distance relationship with Jeff for over 7 years. I'm in the UK and he's in California, USA so we've had to deal with and overcome the same challenges of being thousands of miles away from each other as you have.

We've had to find ways of staying close and connected even when we can't be physically together; we've had to learn how to communicate clearly and honestly when sometimes the only contact we had was email or Instant Messenger; and we've learned how to let each other know we care during the bleakest times apart.

Although Jeff and I met online and so have always been "long distance", we hope the resources we've found will help you deal with the loneliness, heartache and - ultimately - tremendous joy of loving and being loved, whether you're separated by choice or circumstances. We offer a special welcome to those who are kept apart by military duties and we salute your courage in especially difficult times.

One of our biggest challenges has been finding ways to keep our relationship fresh and exciting during the long periods when we don't see each other. We try to come up with little surprises for each other that are easy to mail and not too expensive and that don't get caught up in Customs. I found out the hard way that shipping home-made cookies to the US is a BIG no-no! I have the advantage that almost anything can be bought online from US companies with a credit card, so I don't often end up paying international shipping costs.

We both love art prints and posters and AllPosters have some truly stunning ones.
